Tulsi Vivah Celebrations

05 November - Saturday | 10 AM - 12:30 PM

Special Morning Service Hindus believe that the Tulsi plant embodies Goddess Mahalakshmi, originally known as “Vrinda.” Unmarried women worship Goddess Lakshmi in Tulsi Vivah rituals to find a suitable partner and get wealth in life.

Vaikuntha Chaturdashi

06 November - Sunday | 5 PM to 7.30 PM

Lord Vishnu as well as Lord Shiva because both deities are worshipped together on the same day.

Dev Diwali & Kartik Purnima Satyanarayana Pooja & Katha

08 November - Tuesday | 6 PM to 8 PM

Dev Deepawali lies in the belief that on this day Gods and Goddesses come down on the earth to take a holy dip in River Ganges. It is believed that on this very day, Lord Shiva became victorious on the demon named Tripurasur and hence this festival is also known as Tripura Utsav. Other festivals that fall on Dev Diwali are Guru Nanak Jayanti & Jain light festival.

About Temple

This was the first temple in DMV area. Temple started from home in 1988 and later moved to new building on 2007. The objective of The Hindu Temple of Metropolitan Washington is to give genuine religious services in accordance with the sastras to benefit individuals, families, and the community at large. The mission also includes preserving and propagating Vedic, Sastra, Purana, and Hindu traditions, as well as instilling Sanatana dharma ideals, culture, and heritage in future generations.
